<idPurp>The purpose of this layer is to identify stormwater sewer inlet locations maintained by the Town of Greece, NY. This layer participates in a geometric network which maintains tracing functionality and advanced editing capabilities within the ArcGIS for Local Government Infrastructure toolset.</idPurp>
<idCredit>This layer was created by Bergmann Associates, Inc. In 2012, Bergmann Associates was contracted by the Town of Greece Department of Public Works to GPS and map the Town's sanitary and storm sewer systems. Bergmann digitized the Town of Greece Sewer Network in ArcGIS Desktop version 10 from scanned and georeferenced As-Built Drawings and GPS Survey data. Structure locations were derived from Survey Grade GPS locations taken by Bergmann on manholes and other sewer infrastructure points collected between October 2012 and May 2013. Locations where GPS was not available data were recorded from georeferenced As-Builts or from Monroe County GPS locations. Small portions of the Sewer Network were previously developed by the Town and were incorporated into the database. The Location field describes the source of the geometry. Attributes were recorded as shown on the As-Built drawings. Based on these drawings, the flow direction in the geometric network was registered by digitizing mains from upstream to downstream nodes. <statement>This layer was created by Bergmann Associates, Inc. In 2012, Bergmann Associates was contracted by the Town of Greece Department of Public Works to GPS and map the Town's sanitary and storm sewer systems. Bergmann digitized the Town of Greece Sewer Network in ArcGIS Desktop version 10 from scanned and georeferenced As-Built Drawings and GPS Survey data. The scanned record drawings provided by the Town as TIFF files for the digitizing work date back to the 1940's. The records used in this project included as-built drawings, utility plans and profiles. The record drawings are organized on the file system in folders named largely by subdivision. The name of the record drawing associated with each feature is noted in the Drawing field. The drawings can be accessed through the GIS by using the Link field.
Structure locations were derived from Survey Grade GPS locations taken by Bergmann on manholes and other sewer infrastructure points collected between October 2012 and May 2013. Locations where GPS was not available data were recorded from georeferenced As-Builts or from Monroe County GPS locations. Small portions of the Sewer Network were previously developed by the Town and were incorporated into the database. The Location field describes the source of the geometry. Attributes were recorded as shown on the As-Built drawings. Based on these drawings, the flow direction in the geometric network was registered by digitizing mains from upstream to downstream nodes. &lt;Equipment&gt;
During the course of the project, Trimble model R6 and model R8 GNSS receivers were used in conjunction Trimble TSC2 and TSC3 data collectors and an Intuicom RTK Bridge model “C”; data sheets for which are included. In a few spots inaccessible by GPS, a Trimble VX spatial station was used to collect the data. Once gathered, data was processed in the office using Trimble Business Center software and a shapefile was exported on a daily basis for input into the GIS. &lt;Datum&gt;
Horizontal datum for the project was collected using NAD 1983 (Conus) and the coordinate system used was U.S. State Plane 1983 for zone 3103 (New York West). The Geoid model used was Geoid12A (Conus).
&lt;Data Collection&gt;
RTK GPS methods were used with corrections being received via the Monroe County RTK network (base stations NYMC1 and NYMC2). In general, precision values of around 0.1’ were required both horizontally and vertically in order for an observation to be stored. Occupation times were a minimum of five seconds with a mask angle of 10 degrees.
An initial pass was made through each work zone and all readily accessible features (manholes, catch basins, field inlets and inverts at outfalls) were collected. This data was then loaded into the GIS and compared to the georeferenced As-Built Drawings that were provided by the Town of Greece. During the digitizing process, coordinates for structures that appeared to be missing from the initial field collection were exported out of the GIS and back to the field survey crew. The survey crew then made a secondary pass through each work zone and used these coordinates to search for the missing features and to locate them as necessary. </stepDesc>
