A trail is a path, sometimes of rough stone or dirt, used for recreational activities such as hiking, bicycling, cross-country skiing, four-wheeling, etc. Trails are usually contained in or pass through parks, and at times are the only access routes to remote sites. This layer was created by the Monroe County Department of Environmental Services (DES). This layer was originally created in GIS in 2003 during a digital conversion project where original paper basemaps were scanned and digitized and combined with up to date referenced of aerial photography (2003, Monroe County Department of Environmental Services, Rochester, NY).
